Jefferson: - afraid of the execution
- desperate
- wants to know if Grant is one of the people who will execute him
Grant: - introverted
- does not know what to say to Jefferson
- lets Miss Emma talk the most time

vistit 2 and 3, chapter 10
Grant: - picks up Emma to visit Jefferson
- he shoul take everthing out of his packet
- sees white men and woman on their daily routines
Jefferson: - behaves like in the 1st visit
- always lays on the bunk looking at the ceiling
- "no more talk about the second or third time than he did the first" (p.73, ll.22-23)

visit 8, chapter 23
Grant:
asks Jefferson many questions
sometimes doesn’t know what to say
only want to be Jefferson’s friend
feels like a fool ( -nobody is answered to him)

Jefferson:
stares often only at the wall
when he says something, only a few words
doesn’t listen and answer
at the end of the visit he looks up to Grant and thanks him and the children for the food

Grant and Jefferson:
sit together on the bunk (one level)
Grant is the leader of the conversation

wir haben anhand der Tabelle Schlüsse auf die Entwicklung der Beziehung zwischen den beiden erarbeitet...

posture (-> body language):
switched their positions (at first J. lying/sittin on the bunk and G. standing -> G. looking down at J., in the end G. sitting and J. standing -> J. looking down at G.), contrary development, distance at first, it slowly fades and then is erased.

behaviour/contact:
- J: acceptance of his fate, is touched and emotional, getting more communicative (spoken language and also body language), G reached him
-G: feels uncomfortable at first, changes in the end
- reversed roles, in each others role in the end, both of them learned their lesson.
