American Dream
Frontier Spirit
Mobility
Progress (z.B. technological progrses)
Freedom of speech
Im Stark Englisch Abi Buch findet man auch genau diese Aufgabe zum AD: "Illustrate in which way Lily Casey Smith could be seen as the embodiement of the American Dream"
Stichpunkte hierzu sind:
- Lily does not embody the idea of "rags to riches", but she stands for an older, more original form of the American Dream
- She is independent: e.g. she knows that she saved her siblings and herself from the flood, she manages to continue her education when her father cannot pay for it anymore,...
- She works hard to achieve her goals and fights for her dreams: e.g. she does everything she can to become a teacher
- When she is thrown back by sth. she fights her ways back up again: e.g. when she and her husband lose their garage
